Small Farmhouse Laundry Room Organization Makeover

Our laundry room is small and disorganized and plain. My plan – paint, add shelves, and organize the space to create a modern farmhouse organized laundry room that is functional for our family of 5. A light and cheerful color to help make the space happy and inviting, shelves to add functional storage space, and organized labeled bins and boxes to keep the clutter under control. Here is how I transformed our tiny builder-grade laundry room into a modern beautiful organized laundry room dream!

Painting and adding shelving to the laundry room

Organizing the laundry room

To organize the laundry room we put in a shelving system from Ikea. It is easy to design and install the Ikea systems and you can customize it to whatever size you need!

I used white bins to organize the clutter. I like that you can mix and match various white bins and they will all look good together! See the bottom of this post for some white bins I love, including this amazing rolling laundry cart (which is great for keeping clean laundry in until your ready to fold!)

Not only do I like how the white bins look together to create a cohesive, organized space, but they look so cute with these black farmhouse labels!

To break up the white I use a couple wicker/wood bins for misc. items and a couple faux plants to add character.

It is important to note that you do not have to have exact labels for everything, these 1,2,3,4 labels are super cute and help me separate my junk into 4 boxes that I can organize as needed (and change up if needed too!)

In addition to white laundry bins, I like to use these large lidded glass jars to organize. Look how cute the dryer balls are in this bin!

On the very top shelf I used some fabric bins to organize as well – I love these for bags and other things that I use often but need to keep somewhere handy!

Updating our laundry room with new paint and wallpaper

We recently updated the color of this room and added some DIY wallpaper and completely changed the look of this space. I felt that the blue wasn’t quite the right color for my neutral farmhouse style interior. I wanted to tone the color down and add some wallpaper to add texture. I had some leftover wallpaper from our recent bathroom update, so I decided to use it in the laundry room!

The color of this room is Valspar – Cream in my Coffee.

I am obsessed with this wallpaper in this room! I love that from the hallway the focal point of the laundry room now pops. The greyish brown colors of the wallpaper are just perfect with the light neutral paint color we chose. The whole room looks so light and inviting – I am sure doing laundry in this room will feel so much better now that its refreshed and organized to perfection!
