I created this beautiful step stool using Unicorn Spit Gel Stain and Glaze and Famowood Glaze Coat. I’ll walk you through this project to help inspire your own amazing DIY masterpiece using Unicorn Spit products!

Before
After
Unicorn Spit Gel Stain and Glaze
I selected the color Zia Teal for the top of the stool, and diluted it with 50% water to create a stain. I then whitewashed the top of the stool with White Ning. The base of the stool is painted in White Ning.
Step 1: Staining the top of the stool with Zia Teal

Pick your color
Mix with water to create your desired consistency
Use a paint brush to brush on your project
Brush with the grain
Continue brushing with the grain
Be sure to add a thick layer
Let it sit and absorb into the wood like a stain
Wipe the excess off after a few minutes
Allow the stain to dry for about 15 minutes
Step 2: Whitewashing the top of the stool with White Ning

Use the white paint and a clean brush
Squeeze white paint onto the tip of the brush
Smudge the white paint along the edges
Drag the brush back and forth, smearing the white paint in
Continue washing the white paint over the top of the stool
Allow the top to dry completely
Step 3: Painting the base of the stool with White Ning

Use a clean brush and white paint
Brush the paint on the stool
Try to brush with the grain where possible
Continue painting the whole stool
Paint a second coat if desired
Allow to dry completely
Famowood Glaze Coat
After the stool has completely dried, you are ready to add Famowood Glaze Coat. For a stool this is great because I know it will get a lot of use, and I wanted to protect the surface from wear! Here is how I applied the glaze to the top of the stool, but for more detailed instructions visit here.

Use the glaze kit, 3 plastic cups, and a plastic spatula
Pour equal parts hardener and resin in separate cups
Pour the hardener into the resin
Mix for 6 minutes
Pour mixture into a new plastic cup
Mix for an additional 6 minutes
Pour the mixture on top of the stool
Careful not to get it on the legs
Use the plastic spatuala to carefully spread the glaze over the entire surface, wiping any drips off quickly
Finish spreading the mixture within 15-20 minutes, it will self level
Use a flame over any bubbles right away to remove them
Allow the glaze to cure in a 70 degree, dust-free environment for 8-72 hours
The finished project
